Sewing Project: Applique Makeup Bags

Hi everyone! Today I'm finally sharing one of the projects I've been working on for the craft fair coming up in May. I'm making these little makeup/everything bags to sell. It's been fun experimenting and coming up with the different designs. Now I'm trying to decide which ones I should make multiples of. Which one is your favorite?

For those of you who are wondering, the bags are made with a thick natural tone denim twill and lined with cotton. The designs are made with cotton fabrics which I adhered with wonder-under and then machine stitched around. Except for the feathers, which are from an old sheet, I came up with the designs. My boyfriend Phillip was nice enough to make templates for the glasses and the camera with Illustrator to make look a little nicer.

If anyone is interested, I would be happy to post a tutorial for one of the designs, just let me know!

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend so far!

  1. The camera and the leaves. Just gorgeous! If you were selling them online I would buy, even though I'm not supposed to be spending at the minute! Damn temptation!

    1. Thanks! I'm planning on listing some on Etsy as soon as the craft fair is over. Right now I'm in crazy mode trying to get stocked up for that!

  2. These are so cute! I love all of them but I think the camera is my favorite.
